THE RIVER JOINS US
First water hike on Maritza River from Svilengrand to Odrin
On 28th of June two monoplace kayaks steered by Vassil Florov and Kiril Makarov went down the stream of Maritza River where is the boundary line between Bulgaria and Greece,sailed in the boundary zone of Turkey and Greece and moored under Maritza Bridge in Odrin.
Start: 10 am on the 28th of June under Maritza dike near Svilengrad.
Our border guards attended the hike to the boundary with Turkey....
... which was crossed at 12 am on the 28th of June.
The accompanying team took photo in front of the pyramid where the boundaries of Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey join. In the middle - our host the Vali of Odrin Djengizhan Aksoy.
About 3 pm the team reached the final point of the hike - Maritza Bridge in Odrin.
This adventure took less than 5 hours, but the preparation lasted 4 months.
